Meat is Not Green
I threw beef out of my life years before becoming vegetarian. I had seen, and read about, too much of the cultural and environmental destruction wrought by the beef industry. It was inevitable the rest of the meat would go one day -- once a person truly understands the ecology of food, one realizes industrial-scale meat production is not sustainable. I'm not vegan yet, but eggs and dairy are on their way out of my life. I can't see myself ever getting rid of honey, though; it has too many health benefits. Besides, without beekeeping (pollination), there wouldn't be much left of fruits and vegetables.
